EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) metadata can include camera model, timestamps, and sometimes GPS location. Sharing photos with EXIF intact can reveal where and when a picture was taken—often more than you intended.

This remover strips metadata in your browser so privacy-sensitive photos are not uploaded to a third-party scrubber.

Typical removable fields include GPS coordinates, camera make/model, lens info, software tags, and orientation-related metadata depending on the file. Pixel content stays; only embedded tags are targeted.

1. Strip before social or marketplace uploads: Especially home, travel, and kids' photos.
2. Assume screenshots of maps still leak location in the image itself: EXIF removal does not redact visible landmarks.
3. Batch clean vacation albums: Process sets before posting.
4. Resize after cleaning when possible: Ship only the dimensions you need.
5. Convert to WebP for the live site: After privacy scrub and resize.
6. Keep a private original archive: Cleaned copies for publish, masters offline.
7. Review platform re-encoding: Some apps strip EXIF themselves—do not rely on that alone.

Location-tagged photos remain a common privacy footgun. Journalists, activists, and everyday users have been doxxed via EXIF GPS. Even without GPS, camera serials and timestamps can help correlate sets of images. Stripping metadata is a small habit with outsized risk reduction.
